What does sect mean and why is it on the signature card?
Sect is the Hellenistic distinction between day charts (Sun above the horizon at the return moment) and night charts (Sun below). It tells you which luminary is in charge: the Sun for diurnal charts, the Moon for nocturnal. The sect light's position becomes a primary diagnostic for the year. Most modern calculators drop this. Astrolium keeps it because Chris Brennan and the wider Hellenistic revival have made it standard practice again.
Do I need an exact birth time?
Yes. The solar return moment depends on the Sun's exact natal longitude, and the SR Ascendant moves about one degree every four minutes. A reading without birth time gives you the Sun's house and approximate profected sign, but the rising sign and lord-of-year derived from it become unreliable. Most working astrologers refuse to cast an SR without a verified or rectified time.
When in the year should I run this?
Practitioners pull the next year's bundle one to two months before the client's birthday, then read it during the birthday session.
