We built Astrolium because the daily job of a working astrologer is still done across five tabs, three desktop apps, and a paper notebook. Calculation lives in one place. Client notes in another. Interpretation text in a Google Doc. PDF report in InDesign. Every consult begins with twenty minutes of admin before anyone looks at a chart. Astrolium puts all of it in one workspace — calculation, client CRM, AI-assisted interpretation, and PDF report generation — running in the browser on Mac, PC, iPad, and Android.
Why we built Astrolium
Astrolium grew out of a problem we kept hearing from customers of astrology-api.io. Developers were licensing our calculation API to build practitioner tools — and the same gaps kept appearing. They needed a client database. They needed an interpretation layer. They needed a way to deliver a finished report to a client by email. None of the existing astrology software handled all three together, and the desktop programs that came close were written for Windows in 1998 and crashed on every modern monitor.
The astrology-api.io engine already handled the math at NASA-grade precision in under 300 milliseconds. Swiss Ephemeris under the hood. 100+ calculations per request. 23 house systems. Nine languages. So we asked: what would it take to build the practitioner workspace on top of it? Not another API. The product the API was supposed to enable.
In 2024 we started designing it. By late 2025 we had a chart wheel, a client roster, and an AI interpretation layer running on Claude. In early 2026 the first paid practitioners moved their entire reading practice into Astrolium. As of May 2026, the workspace handles natal, transit, synastry, composite, solar return, lunar return, electional, horary, and astrocartography work, with PDF reports that match the visual standard a practitioner would mail to a paying client.

- PDF reports — Branded report generation with the practitioner's logo, cover, and tone. The deliverable looks like a finished book chapter, not a software export.
- Cross-platform — Runs in the browser on Mac, PC, iPad, and Android. No installer. No "supported on Windows 10 or higher." No license keys mailed in a paper envelope.

We built Astrolium because we want rigorous logic, not just lists of 20 transits without context. We want to cross-reference natal placements, global transits, and location in real time. We are the first generation of practitioners with the technology to synthesize unlimited context.

The calculation engine underneath Astrolium is astrology-api.io, the developer API that's been running since 2023. Astrology-api.io is the calculation layer; Astrolium is the workspace. The same team builds both, and any technique that ships to the API ships to Astrolium the same day. If you're a developer building your own astrology product, the API is for you. If you're a practitioner running a reading practice, Astrolium is the application you'd otherwise have to build yourself.
