The Astrolium AI assistant is the one feature Solar Fire, Astro Gold, and TimePassages do not ship, and the one most practitioners ask about first. It builds natal, transit, synastry, and forecast interpretations using Claude under the hood, in 9 languages, with citations to the chart positions it is reading from. The output is not generic. It follows your own method, because the AI reads every chart against the rules, instructions, and notes you load into your Knowledge Base.
The free chart generator casts a chart in 15 seconds. The AI in astrology guide covers how to ground the AI in your own material. For the predictive layer the AI plugs into, see predictive timing. For the partnership view, see synastry. For the $29 per month Pro plan that includes unlimited readings, see pricing.
What the AI assistant actually does
There are two failure modes for AI in astrology, and Astrolium tries to avoid both. The first is the ChatGPT failure: a confident, generic, slightly wrong interpretation that does not know which house system you are using, which planets your school treats as rulers, or even which chart it is reading. The second is the no-AI failure: 90 minutes of writing per client per session, much of it spent on the same scaffolding ("Saturn in the 10th house pertains to career...") that the practitioner has written 200 times already.
The Astrolium AI assistant sits between those two failures. It reads the chart against your own material, so the interpretation arrives in your method and your voice instead of a generic register. The practitioner's time goes to the part that needs a human: the bridge between the chart and the client's life, the bit the client will actually remember.
The Knowledge Base grounds every reading
What makes the output sound like you, rather than like a textbook, is the Knowledge Base. Upload your interpretation rules, your house-by-house instructions, your favourite source authors, and the notes you have built over years of reading. The AI reads each chart against that material before it writes a word. A Hellenistic practitioner who weights sect heavily gets sect-led readings; a practitioner who never uses outer-planet rulers never sees them. The model follows your instructions, not its defaults.
Every output still opens in a markdown editor, with citations attached: every claim links to the chart position it reads from, so when a client asks "where does this come from?" you can point at the wheel. Citations are sticky, so editing a sentence keeps the link. Sections reorder by drag. You can re-prompt any paragraph in plain language: "tighten this, less psychology, more traditional."
Because the reading already follows your method, most practitioners change a sentence or two rather than rewriting. The 70 to 90 minutes saved per session is time the AI gives back, not time spent fixing generic prose.
The school setting
Astrology is not 1 tradition. Astrolium ships the AI tuned for 4 schools: Hellenistic (traditional Greco-Egyptian, with sect, bounds, and the 7 lots), traditional (Lilly, Bonatti, medieval-flavoured), modern psychological (Jungian and Rudhyar-derived, with the outer planets as primary rulers), and evolutionary (Jeffrey Wolf Green's school, soul-purpose framing).
Pick the school per project from the chart's settings. The AI then shifts:
- Rulerships. Mars rules Scorpio in Hellenistic and traditional; Pluto rules Scorpio in modern psychological. Saturn rules Aquarius in the first two; Uranus does in the second two.
- Reading order. Hellenistic starts with sect and the luminaries; modern psychological starts with the Sun, Moon, and Ascendant signs.
- Vocabulary. "Domicile" and "exaltation" in Hellenistic; "rules" and "is dignified in" in modern. "Hayz" in traditional; "elemental balance" in modern.
- Outer planets. First-class rulers in modern and evolutionary; transpersonal influences only in Hellenistic and traditional.
The school setting is a per-chart property, so the same practitioner can run a traditional natal in the morning and a modern synastry in the afternoon without re-configuring.
What it builds
The AI panel sits in the right rail of every chart view. From any chart you can ask for:
- A full natal interpretation. 1,800 to 2,500 words, structured by sect, luminaries, angles, houses, then aspects. Typical render: 12 to 18 seconds.
- A single house or planet writeup. 200 to 400 words on Saturn in the 10th, the Moon-Mars square, or the 7th house of relationships. Typical render: 4 to 6 seconds.
- A 12-month transit summary. 800 to 1,200 words covering the major outer-planet transits, the year's profected lord, and the active ZR period. Stacks with the predictive timing ribbon.
- A synastry overlay. Both directions of the house overlay, the top 10 inter-aspects, and the composite chart's themes. Typical render: 10 to 14 seconds.
- A client-facing summary. A 1 page reading written for the client's eyes, in plainer language with no jargon. Often used as a take-home PDF.
Every output is configurable for length, tone, and depth, and exports directly as a client email, an Instagram message, or a PDF report. The format the client receives is the format Astrolium writes, so nothing gets re-typed in a second tool.
Languages
The AI assistant writes natively in 9 languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian. Each language has its own astrological vocabulary, and the model is prompted with that vocabulary (so "Geburtshoroskop" not "natal chart" in German, "carta natale" not "natal chart" in Italian).
Same chart, different language: switch from the language picker in the AI panel and the draft re-renders in 5 to 8 seconds. Most practitioners in our beta switch language by client, not by session. The language the client speaks is the language the deliverable is written in.
Versus other AI in astrology
| Tool | Knows your chart? | School-aware? | Citations? | Edit surface? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT (raw) | No | No | No | None |
| Co-Star app | Partial | No (modern only) | No | None |
| Generic astrology AI tools | Partial | No | No | Limited |
| Astrolium AI assistant | Yes (Swiss Ephemeris) | Yes (4 schools) | Yes (linked to wheel) | Full markdown editor |
The competitive question is not "does it use AI." It is "does the AI read your way." A ChatGPT prompt that says "interpret this natal chart" gets a generic answer because the model has no chart and no method in front of it. The Astrolium prompt includes the actual positions, the house system, the rulers in use, the school setting, and your own Knowledge Base. The output sounds like you because the input was you.
Pricing
The AI assistant is included on every Pro plan at $29 per month, with no limit on readings. The free Lite tier includes 5 readings per month, capped at 800 words each, which is enough to evaluate whether the assistant fits the practitioner's workflow. The founding-member rate of $14.50 per month for life includes the assistant on the same terms as Pro. See pricing for the full plan breakdown.
