A Tree of Life weighed against an actual chart.

Astrolium weights ten Sephiroth by the condition of the planet carrying each one and lights twenty-two paths from natal aspect flow, across 4 tree systems.

The Tree of Life for one natal chart: ten Sephiroth weighted by the condition of the planet that carries each one

01

Kabbalistic astrology is usually taught as a fixed diagram, identical for every person who looks at it.

02

The planet-to-Sephirah tables differ between recensions, and most software picks one without saying which.

03

Tarot attributions get quietly presented as ancient when they date from a specific late-Victorian order.

04

Nobody tells the reader which parts are doctrine and which parts were measured from the chart in front of them.

Capabilities

What you can do with our tree of life astrology

Sephiroth weighted by carrier condition

Each Sephirah is weighted from the planet that carries it: essential dignity, accidental fortitude, sect, and the beholding term. The components stay split so you can see where the number came from.

Twenty-two paths lit by natal flow

Every path carries the natal aspect between the two carriers it connects, with orb and aspect named. A flow threshold slider raises or lowers the bar, so you can read the tree at whatever tension you work at.

Four tree systems, switchable

Classical, Modern (Halevi), Golden Dawn and Golden Dawn extended. Switching moves the carriers, which changes which Sephiroth have a planet at all. Sephiroth with no carrier read as no carrier, never as a weight of zero.

Provenance stated on the screen

The panel names the tree geometry, the letter recension and the carrier table it received, and says in plain words that this layer is Hermetic Qabalah and not ancient or traditional Jewish Kabbalah.

Flags where a reading is fragile

A path ending on the Ascendant is flagged time-sensitive, because an approximate birth time can reverse it. A path with an outer planet at one end is flagged generational, which belongs to a cohort rather than a person.

Pillar balance with a real range

Severity, Mercy and Middle are compared with a balance score that is explicitly not a percentage. Across 500 charts the score runs 46.5 to 99.2, median 85.5, with 90% falling between 68 and 96, and the screen tells you so.

How tree of life astrology works in Astrolium

  1. Step 01 / 03

Pick a nativity with a recorded birth time

The Tree is weighted from sect, house placement and the lord of the Ascendant, so a substituted noon would produce a confident reading of a different chart. No time means no Tree.

  2. Step 02 / 03

Choose a tree system and set the flow threshold

Classical, Modern, Golden Dawn or Golden Dawn extended, filtered by pillar if you want one column at a time. Raise the threshold to leave only the strongest paths lit.

  3. Step 03 / 03

Read Sephiroth and paths in place

Click a sphere, a path, or a table row and the detail opens in the page rather than a popup: carrier, weight, basis, aspect, orb, attribution, and what the screen may not be read as.

The Tree of Life for one natal chart: ten Sephiroth weighted by the condition of the planet that carries each one
The Tree of Life for one natal chart: ten Sephiroth weighted by the condition of the planet that carries each one

Astrolium computes a Tree of Life for one nativity: ten Sephiroth weighted by the condition of the planet carrying each one, twenty-two paths lit by the natal aspects between those carriers. Two people get different trees, which is the whole point.

The weighting draws on the same dignity and sect machinery as the essential dignities calculator and the natal chart workspace. For the classical background to sect and fortitude, the Hellenistic astrology guide is the place to start.

What the module actually computes

Astrolium's Kabbalah module builds a Tree of Life from one natal chart. Each of the ten Sephiroth is weighted by the condition of the planet that carries it under the selected tree system, combining essential dignity, accidental fortitude, sect and the beholding term, with the components kept visible rather than merged. The twenty-two paths are lit by the natal aspect between the two carriers they connect, each showing aspect and orb, filtered by an adjustable flow threshold. Four tree systems are selectable: Classical, Modern or Halevi, Golden Dawn, and Golden Dawn extended. A provenance panel names the geometry, the letter recension and the carrier table, and states plainly that this is Hermetic Qabalah rather than ancient or traditional Jewish Kabbalah. The module needs a recorded birth time and refuses to substitute noon for a missing one.

The usual complaint about kabbalistic astrology software is that it draws the same diagram every time. Ten spheres, twenty-two paths, a planet printed beside each sphere, and no connection to the chart of the person sitting across from you. This module puts the chart back in.

How a Sephirah gets its weight

Every Sephirah has a carrier, the planet assigned to it by the tree system you selected. The weight is that carrier's condition, and the detail panel breaks it into named components rather than a single opaque figure: essential dignity, accidental fortitude, sect, and the beholding term, with a total.

Two of those components come from different doctrines, and the module refuses to hide the seam. Accidental fortitude is computed on Placidus, the beholding term on whole signs. The provenance panel says so, and also warns that your own zodiac and house-system settings do not reach this calculation. That is an honest limitation, not a feature, and it is stated where you read the number.

Malkuth is a special case. It reads through the lord of the Ascendant, which may already carry another Sephirah. When that happens the table says so directly: if both rank high, that is one planet counted twice, not two testimonies.

Basis, and the four things a weight can be

Each Sephirah carries a basis label, which is the honest version of a confidence indicator.

  • Full. A classical planet carries it and the full weighting applies.
  • Via Ascendant ruler. The Malkuth case above.
  • Off-scale. A modern planet carries it, so the number is not comparable to the classical seven and is excluded from the ranking and pillar means.
  • No carrier. Nothing sits on this Sephirah under the current tree. Not a weight of zero. Nothing to weigh.

Switching between the 4 systems changes which of these applies. On the Classical tree, Kether and Chokmah carry no body at all.

The twenty-two paths

A path is lit by the natal aspect between the carriers at its two ends. The table gives the path number, its Hebrew letter, what it connects, the flow value and the aspect with its orb. The flow control raises or lowers the threshold, so you can start with everything and tighten until only the load-bearing contacts remain.

Two flags matter more than the rest. A path that ends on the Ascendant carries a time-sensitive flag, because the Ascendant advances by roughly 1 degree every four minutes of clock time, at a rate that depends on latitude and rising sign; an approximate birth time can reverse that path outright. A path with an outer planet at one end is flagged generational, since that end is shared by everyone born within months of the native. Where the other end is a fast body, that side stays personal.

Provenance, stated rather than implied

The panel names three things separately: the tree geometry received, the letter recension, and the carrier table. So a reading might report Kircher geometry, Golden Dawn letter attributions, and the Sefer Yetzirah seven-planet spheres on the Sephiroth. Where the response does not state its attribution, the panel says that too instead of filling the gap.

Two further disclosures sit in the detail view. The tarot attribution on a path is Golden Dawn, 1888 to 1900, not Sefer Yetzirah. And the weighting itself is Astrolium's reading, not a tradition: no tradition weighs a Sephirah from a chart, and none lights a path from one. Where a source labels an outer-planet placement with a famous name, the module treats that as the name of a table rather than as its authority.

What reading it is like

The tree renders under any of the 4 systems, with pillar filters for Severity, Mercy and Middle. Click a sphere, a path or any table row and the detail opens in place. The module never uses a popup or a modal, which sounds like a small thing until you have tried to compare two spheres in a tool that keeps covering the diagram.

Ask AI sends the ranked Sephiroth, the lit paths and their provenance, and asks for a reading of the whole Tree. You can also scope it to one Sephirah, one path, or the pillar balance.

For the tier detail see pricing, and for the self-use mode that includes this module see Astrolium Personal. If you want the underlying dignity arithmetic on its own, the essential dignities calculator is free.

Frequently asked questions

Is this traditional Jewish Kabbalah?
No, and the module states that on screen rather than in a footnote. The tradition line reads Hermetic Qabalah, the Western esoteric current that runs through the Renaissance magicians and the late-nineteenth-century orders. The letter-to-path attributions are Golden Dawn, 1888 to 1900, and the geometry is Kircher. None of the weighting layer is ancient or traditional Jewish Kabbalah, and Astrolium does not present it as such.
Why does it need a recorded birth time?
The weighting uses sect, house placement and the lord of the Ascendant, all of which move with the clock. A noon substitution would not produce an approximate Tree, it would produce a precise Tree of a different nativity, and the reader would have no way to tell. So the module refuses and asks for a verified or rectified time instead.
What does the pillar balance score mean?
It compares the weight sitting on the Severity, Mercy and Middle pillars. It is not a percentage and it does not run 0 to 100 in any meaningful way. Across a 500-chart sample the score ranged from 46.5 to 99.2 with a median of 85.5, and 90% of charts fell between 68 and 96, so a score of 72 is low rather than good. The screen prints that range beside the number.
What happens to Uranus, Neptune and Pluto?
The classical seven have essential dignities; the modern planets do not, so their weight sits on a different scale. When a tree system places one, the module marks it off-scale, excludes it from the ranking and from the pillar means, and says not to chart it beside the classical seven. On the Classical tree, Kether and Chokmah simply carry no body, which is what the older reckoning asserts.
Which plan includes the Tree of Life module?
Adept, at $29 per month, alongside horary, electional, zodiacal releasing and bring-your-own-key AI. It is also one of the modules in Astrolium Personal for self-use. The [pricing page](/pricing) has the full comparison.
